supporting the lighthouse charity
Since 1956, the Lighthouse charity have been offering support to workers in the construction industry and their families. They offer free, confidential, 24/7 support through their construction industry helpline, focusing on emotional, physical and financial well-being. This can include emergency finanical aid to construction families in crisis, advice on occupational health and mental wellbeing, and support on legal, tax and debt management matters.
Research shows that 20% of all work related illnesses in construction is attributed to stress, anxiety and depression, and that's what we know about, it's actually expected to be a higher percentage! Alongside this, construction is the number 1 industry for suicides. That's why we've decided to pledge our support to this amazing charity and make a contribution that allows them to continue to provide these services and support to those that need it.
The Lighthouse charity is also a founding member of Building Mental Health - an organisation that provides a free online portal of information to help companies develop a positive mental health culture. We are pleased to say we have signed the Building Mental Health Charter, and commit to raising awareness of mental health in the workplace.
If you, or someone you know in the construction industry needs some advice or support, please reach out to the Construction Industry Helpline for support and advice.
